Born in Iran, educated in England, obtaining BS and MS degree in Advance Laboratory Technology.
I was working in Cancer research before deciding to come to US in 1970. I eventually started loving art that I got a Degree in Arts from California State University Northridge. I was recognized as International women Artist. And I have been exhibiting internationally in, Paris, France, Stockholm, Sweden, Oslo, Norway, Rome, Italy, Beijing and China. And also in Hawaii, New Mexico and Bay Area galleries. And my art has been published in several books.
Jaleh is multi media collage artist. She came to the US in 1970 and got her art degree from CSUN. She has shown in US, France, Scandinavia, Italy and China. She has many awards and is published in several art books.
StatementJaleh Etemad. Artist Statement
As an artist, my objective is to make art that is both revealing and accessible but also acts as muse for the viewer. I gather my inspiration from people, books, dreams, and unexpected emotions. I paint and layer onto my canvases many symbols such as fragments of maps, letters, ancient inscriptions, photos both found and self taken, found objects and mementos and contemporary poetry.
I grow with my art, keeping my horizons open and exciting, challenging my creativity My purpose and aim is to be able to have a visual language interaction with the viewer, capturing their lingering thoughts. It is my hope that this spark of life “WITHIN” the created forms will provoke inquiry into the realms of emotion and intellect. "
